Playtime, recess keeps kids healthy

UNDATED (WHDH) — Kids that get to have school playtime or recess are healthier overall, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

They released a new policy statement encouraging schools to let kids have their playtime.

They said playtime or recess offers cognitive, physical and social benefits to young children and it gives kids the opportunity to develop skills that can't be taught in the classroom.
