Deputy Sheriff James Creed, who shot the suspect in a Taunton stabbing rampage last week has released a statement.

In the statement from Creed and his wife Laura, they acknowledge the bravery of George Heath, who was stabbed and killed at the Bertucci’s .

“Without his actions, the outcome could have been even worse,” the statement.

The deputy sheriff also acknowledged his wife, who is a nurse, for administering first aid to the victims in the restaurant.

“We would also like to thank all of the first responders, the Bristol and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Departments, the SEMLEC Criticial Incident Support Team and the other agencies that have supported us,” he said.

He added:

“While we appreciate all of the kind words and messages that we have received, there is no cause for celebration regarding this incident. We only wish to go back to our jobs, our families, and our lives.

“We ask that you keep the victims, their families and all of those affected by this incident in your thoughts.”

James Creed is a Deputy Sheriff K9 officer with the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.

Laura Creed has been a nurse at Brigham and Women’s Hospital since 2011 in the burn trauma, surgery and kidney transplant units.
