BRIDGEWATER, MASS. (WHDH) - Police confirmed that a student from Bridgewater State who reported being assaulted by a masked man has recanted her story.

Police had been investigating a report of a masked man who reportedly attacked a Bridgewater State University student early Friday morning. According to the report, the student told police the man was wearing a ski mask and approached her on Summer Street. She said he then put a bag over her head and tried to take her clothes off. The student then reportedly ran away.

Police spent the day searching for the suspect before the student recanted the tale. According to police, the student will now be charged.
