REVERE, MASS. (WHDH) - The driver who allegedly left the scene of a car crash involving a train in Revere Wednesday night turned himself in to Transit Police.

Police said the car and double-decker Commuter Rail train collided on Oak Island Road in Revere. Surveillance video of the crash shows two men miraculously escaping the destroyed car and fleeing. In the video it appears only the back half of the car was smashed, tearing the car in half.

Police said the driver was fleeing from an earlier fender-bender and took off instead of stopping to exchange information.

“We stayed and talked with him for about 20 minutes,” said witness Jenny Reynolds. “We were just worried…I can’t imagine how I would feel in that situation.”

No train passengers were reported injured. Those passengers were transported to another train at Wonderland station.

The driver was charged with leaving the scene of an accident an unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
