PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — A Plymouth town employee has been charged with attacking a jogger with pruning shears as she ran through the park in which he was working.

Twenty-eight-year-old-old Daryl Moyer was arraigned Friday on numerous charges including armed assault with intent to murder and armed assault with intent to rape.

Police say Moyer grabbed the woman on a secluded trail in Morton Park Thursday afternoon and stabbed her when she tried to escape. Police say a male runner intervened with a large stick and Moyer fled.

The woman was taken to South Shore Hospital with multiple stab wounds. She is expected to recover.

Police say Moyer surrendered to police shortly after the attack.

A judge ordered Moyer held without bail. He is due back in court July 19.
