WORCESTER, MASS. (WHDH) - Police arrested a man in Worcester Thursday after he allegedly confessed to attacking his young nephew.

The 21-year-old suspect allegedly called police and told them he killed his nephew.

Police rushed to the scene at Lincoln Village on Country Club Boulevard, a public housing condo complex. There, officers said they found the 3-year-old boy with trauma to his face and neck, but he was conscious and alert.

“I heard a little kid just crying and screaming and crying but I didn’t think anything of it,” said a worker who was painting on the property. “I thought it was a little kid crying.”

The boy was taken to the hospital, where he is stable condition.

In a statement, DCF said, “The Department of Children and Families has received a report and is investigating. We are also collaborating with law enforcement in its investigation.”
