TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama man is facing capital murder charges after police say he shot his wife and grandson and then barricaded himself inside a home for hours.

Multiple media outlets report that Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit Lt. Kip Hart identified the suspect as 66-year-old Victor Neal Prentice. He is charged in the deaths of 65-year-old Ruby Prentice and 20-year-old Justin Marquise Prentice.

Police say authorities went to the residence around noon Thursday where they found the two shooting victims outside. They were taken to a hospital where they died.

Tuscaloosa police Lt. Teena Richardson says the suspect barricaded himself inside. He was taken into custody after surrendering to authorities after a roughly seven-hour long standoff.

The shooting remains under investigation.

It isn’t immediately clear if Victor Prentice has an attorney.
