SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Springfield police say a dispute over damage to a car in a multi-story parking garage led to a fatal weekend stabbing.

Authorities say 29-year-old Anthony Casiano, of Springfield, faces a murder charge in connection with the stabbing at about 10 p.m. Saturday of 26-year-old Benjamin Lariviere, of Wilbraham. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene with a stab wound to the chest.

Casiano is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in district court. It was not immediately clear if he has a lawyer.

Police say they caught Casiano as he attempted to leave the garage.

Police do not think the men know each other prior to the dispute.

The death was the city’s 12th homicide of the year.
