METHUEN, MASS. (WHDH) - Police in Methuen responded to a fatal car accident involving a small child Tuesday morning.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. at the corner of Berkeley Street and East Brook Place.
Police said a 1988 Honda Civic driven by a 34-year-old Methuen woman was traveling east on East Brook Place.
As the Honda entered Berkeley Street, a 2005 Ford Econoline truck struck the car’s driver’s side, causing the car to spin out of control.
According to Methuen Police Department a 6-year-old boy was killed when he was ejected from the car.
The woman driving the car was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No other passengers were in the car.
The van continued traveling on Berkeley Street, crashing through a fence and into a wall of Meeting House Hill Cemetery.
The driver of the van remained on scene and is currently cooperating with police.
The crash remains under investigation.
