Police located a 9-year-old Dorchester boy reported missing and arrested his father for the alleged parental kidnapping.

Kelvin Martins, 9, was found safe Friday afternoon. Before he was located, Martins was last seen with his father, 27-year-old Juan Ayala-Powell of Boston.

Ayala-Powell was wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting on Blue Hill Avenue just before midnight Thursday. A man in his early 20s was transported to Boston Medical Center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Police said Kelvin was in a car outside the apartment building while the shooting took place inside.

Kelvin was found at the home of Ayala-Powell’s ex-girlfriend. His aunt told 7News his grandmother “barged in” past the police to get him because police did not have a search warrant. His family said Kelvin is fine but is still a little shaken up by everything.

Ayala-Powell was later located and arrested.
