WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (AP) — Police are seeking a suspect they allege threatened several officers with a running chain saw after a fight.

West Greenwich Police Chief Richard Ramsey says police responded to an area home Tuesday night for a report of a disturbance. After police tried to arrest two men, they say 38-year-old James Matteson ran out of a garage carrying a running chain saw.

Ramsey says Matteson dropped the saw and ran into the woods. Police were not able to locate him.

Ramsay said that when found, Matteson will be charged with felony assault on uniformed police officers. He also has two outstanding warrants, for failure to appear on a suspended license charge, and felony arson of a vehicle.
