STONINGTON, Conn. (AP) — Police in Connecticut are trying to identify a man they say stole a collection box from a Catholic retreat center on Enders Island.

The island, located in Stonington, is owned by the Society of Saint Edmund, a religious congregation of the Catholic church.

Police say the money was taken last week from the St. Edmund’s Retreat Center. Church officials discovered the theft the next morning. It’s unknown how much money was in the collection box.

Police released photos of the suspect Monday on the department’s Facebook page. They are asking the public to help identify him.
