MILLBURY, MASS. (WHDH) - Police say the wife of a Millbury K-9 police officer fabricated a story about a break-in, theft, and graffiti tagging.
According to officials, Maria Daley reported a break in at her home.
Daley said the house was ransacked in the middle of the night while everyone was sleeping.
She reported $10,000 worth of stolen goods and the house was tagged with “BLM” (Black Lives Matter) graffiti.
Police questioned her story when their police dog did not react at all during the alleged theft.
Daley later confessed to the story being false.
The Millbury Police Chief says the assumption is that the officer’s wife made up claims due to financial difficulty.
Daley faces charges of filing a false police report & misleading police.
No charges are being filed against her husband.
