HARPSWELL, Maine (AP) — Maine authorities say they have charged a pair of men in the theft of 19 crates of live lobsters worth more than $9,000.

The Maine Marine Patrol says Tuesday that 34-year-old Troy Woodman of Warren and 29-year-old Shane Hall of Portland have been charged with stealing lobsters from two dealers.

Both men have been charged with theft and face a penalty of up to five years in jail and a $5,000 fine. Authorities are still investigating sales of the lobsters after they were stolen.

Woodman says he’s retaining an attorney and plans to plead not guilty.

Hall is in Knox County Jail facing six unrelated charges including aggravated assault and kidnapping stemming from an unrelated case. An attorney for Hall didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
