Talk about winning. The weekend forecast keeps brightening, warming and improving. We really snatched victory from the jaws of defeat here. As mentioned in last night’s blog, the position of the front was key: a slight shift west, and we wouldn’t be so optimistic.

In the meantime, the rain is setting in for the night. Not steady mind you, just intermittent – with a few juicy downpours. Dewpoints in the low 60s are feeding this rain, so there’s no limit to the moisture source. It’s for that reason that we get doused by morning. It’s the trifecta of a front, abundant moisture and strong lift in the upper atmosphere. There might even be a few rumbles of thunder as this front crosses in the early morning hours.

Then it’s the sun’s turn – busting out by mid to late morning and warming us into the low/mid 70s. What’s not to love? (Pollen is even dropping as I type thanks to the rain.)

Sunday looks better as well. I was worried about a pop-up shower, but looks like that might be limited to the immediate coast as it’s triggered by an afternoon sea breeze. Nothing that would take up your entire afternoon either. These are passing summertime showers.

Make it a great weekend, be safe, and watch for motorcycles, bikes and pedestrians.
