John Hinckley Jr. may soon be released from a psychiatric hospital in Washington, D.C.

Hinckley was declared legally insane after he shot President Reagan in 1981.

Last week, a federal judge ruled the 61-year-old is no longer a danger to himself and others.

Once released, Hinckley will be required to live with his elderly mother in Virginia.
