BOSTON (WHDH) - People in Boston got a political surprise Sunday evening when a vice presidential candidate showed up for dinner.
Visitors to Boston’s North End waited to catch a glimpse of Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence.
“We came from dinner around the corner and we saw the secret service pins on shirts, so we figured he must have been important, so we hung around and it turned out to be the governor,” Amanda Housand said.
The Indiana governor was in Boston Sunday evening, dining at Mamma Maria’s in North Square.
It’s unclear if he was here on official business, but he greeted a receptive crowd and a mob of cameras.
“He was very friendly,” Housand said. “He stood on the step for a minute waving, and gave a thumbs up.”
And visitors to Boston, who happen to be from Indiana, said he’s been a great governor.
“The biggest change he’s made to Indiana is employment, giving tax breaks to people, putting people back to work,” Ray Lundy said.
