Research shows pelvic exams may not be necessary

 Pelvic exams could now be a thing of the past.

The American College of Physicians says the exams are unnecessary for women without any symptoms.

Researchers actually found exams can lead to false positives — which could add to health care costs.

And that pelvic exams do not reduce deaths, and rarely find diseases.

Other groups disagree with the findings.
