JOHNSTON, R.I. (AP) — Johnston officials say a 12-year-old boy who brought a pellet gun to Ferri Middle School this week has been arrested and suspended indefinitely.

Officials say the pellet gun looks like a real pistol and the sixth-grader showed it to his friends at school Tuesday.

Police say the boy told officers he didn't mean any harm and didn't threaten anyone with the gun. He told police that another student had loaned him the Taurus Millennium PT111 Airsoft Spring Gun after school one day and he planned to return it to the other student Tuesday.

The other student confirmed the story and both boys' parents were contacted.

The student who brought the gun to school faces a hearing next month before a juvenile disciplinary board.
