MASHPEE, MASS. (WHDH) - A highly-traveled road on Cape Cod was closed Wednesday afternoon due to police activity.
Mashpee Police posted on Facebook any drivers passing through Mashpee should avoid Route 28 between the Deer Crossing/South Cape Village and the Falmouth town line.
Drivers are asked to seek an alternate route.
Police emphasized the road closure is not due to an active shooter.
Police tactical units have responded to the area with high-power weapons.
Police said there is no danger to the public.
