CANTON, MA (WHDH) — The Department of Conservation and Recreation has proposed a second controlled hunt in the Blue Hills.

Last fall’s hunt was the first in more than a century.

The goal was to reduce the deer population to try to contain Lyme disease.

The second hunt is proposed for later this year.

It would include more days and a larger area.

Hunters would also be allowed to use shotguns and bows and arrows.
