After Monday night's debate Scott Brown could be down to his last arrow, and he let it go today in a new ad:
"Every day of my life I sit at the kitchen table, across from the woman who devoted 36 years of her life to my family, and I can't afford to pay for her health care," a coal worker said.
"Once again, is whose side do you stand on?" Elizabeth Warren said.
It's an emotional ad focusing on Warren's legal work for LTV Steel, legal work Brown used in the debate Monday to challenge the heart of Warren's campaign – that she's a fighter for the middle class.
"LTV steel is a company that she represented in an effort to deny union workers, coal miners, their health benefits…she got paid a five figure salary, and she had a choice to make and when the camera’s weren’t rolling she chose to side with the steel conglomerate," Brown said.
But Warren didn't wilt
"The reality is that in the case of the coal companies, which he's talking about here, and black lung, um, that everyone was going to get paid," Warren said.
Worse for Brown, Warren had a counter attack:
"Senator Brown is the one who is not working with the unions. The unions have endorsed me. The asbestos workers have said I was on their side, not Senator Brown. The coal workers have said I was on their side,” Warren said.
LTV steel has become Brown's replacement for the Native American issue which, after a long run, appears to have run its course.
Election Day is five weeks from today, and while that can be a lifetime in politics, it can also be not enough time.
Brown is about to find out which it is for him.
