WASHINGTON (WHDH) - When mom calls, you do as she asks.

One U.S. Senator followed orders on Wednesday when he was in just such a position. Keith Ellison, a Democrat from Minnesota, was in a meeting when a staffer passed him a note.

The note read, simply,” “Your mom called and wants you on floor!”

“On floor” referred to the sit-in staged by Democratic members of Congress, protesting a lack of action by Republicans on gun control laws. The meeting was attended by several House and Senate members throughout the evening, was broadcast online, and received a significant following in the media.

In a post on Facebook, Ellison said that when Mom tells you to do something, you obey.

“Was in a meeting when a scheduler handed me this note,” he said. “Couldn’t say no. Don’t worry, mom. I’m there.”
