Many towns started the day with some morning drops, but not all locations kept the rain throughout the day. In fact, west of I-95, much of the afternoon was dry with a few peeks of sun trying to glimpse on through. Across Southeast Mass, it was a different story as wet weather continued, especially through Buzzards Bay and the Cape/Islands, where 0.50-1.00″ of rain fell.
It was a chilly August day as well with afternoon temps along the coast, and through SE Mass, only in the low to mid 60s!
Aside from a few showers across southern Bristol and southern Plymouth counties as well as the Cape/Islands, the rest of the evening and overnight is quiet with mainly cloudy skies.
While it’s not picture perfect, Sunday will be a better day for many. Although a few showers are still possible across SE Mass, the rain won’t be as consistent. For the rest of us, much of the time is dry with clouds, breaks of sun and highs in the mid to upper 70s away from the coast. Highs hold in the lower 70s along the coast.
While we have more dry hours than wet from Monday-Thursday, there will be enough instability to fire off a passing afternoon shower or storm. Afternoon storm chances on these days range from 20-40% (highest Wednesday). Again, I still think if you have beach plans/tee times during this timeframe, you will be able to get your dry stretches and some sun in, especially through the morning. Just keep an eye to the sky in the afternoon.
As high pressure builds over us by Friday and holds into the weekend, the weather gets even better with highs near 80 and humidity very low.
