SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Two Springfield police officers have been struck by a vehicle and a passenger in that vehicle was hit by a bullet during a late night pursuit in the city.

Police say Springfield police tried to pull over a vehicle wanted in Enfield, Connecticut, in connection with an armed robbery late Monday night, but the car took off striking two officers. Sgt. John Delaney says the officers both suffered minor injuries and were brought to the hospital.

Other officers opened fire at the fleeing vehicle.

The car crashed after a chase early Tuesday morning. Delaney says one occupant ran way on foot. Another occupant had been grazed by a bullet and was also treated at the hospital.

No names were released.

The man who fled is considered armed and possibly wounded.
