SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island State Police are continuing to investigate the incident that prompted a lockdown at the University of Rhode Island last week but say they have no new leads.

Maj. Michael Winquist says police are still conducting interviews as they try to determine whose comments outside an auditorium in Chafee Hall on Thursday prompted a report of a gun. Some inside the lecture hall thought they heard an individual say they had a weapon, but authorities found no gun or shooter.

Winquist says there is no video from outside the lecture hall and that no one has been able to provide a description of the person who was outside the classroom.

He says police are monitoring social media for any new information.
