It’s the time of year that faithful TV fans dread: renewal season. Each year, many shows end up on the chopping block, while others continually make it through to see another year. To help put your mind at ease, here’s a list of some of the major TV shows we’ve come to know and love and that will be around for another season.

Grimm

This supernatural drama has been renewed for its fourth season. The show’s success can be attributed to a loyal fan base that continues to tune in to watch the series live, said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, per a Zap2it article. Grimm is inspired by the classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Portland Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) is a descendant from an elite line of criminal profilers, known as “Grimms,” meaning it’s up to him to take on an assortment of ancient evils.
Throughout the show, Burkhardt works to protect his fiancé, Juliette Silverton (Bitsie Tulloch), and his partner, Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby), from the dangers of his job, which becomes increasingly harder to do. Watch as Burkhardt continues to harness his inner Grimm and face off against royal lines dating back to the original profilers themselves, the Brothers Grimm.

Reign

The CW has renewed the freshman drama Reign, a historical fictional series, for a second season. The show follows the early years of Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1557 France. Arriving in France with four close friends, Mary has been sent to secure Scotland’s strategic alliance by formalizing her arranged engagement to the French king’s son, Prince Francis. But the match depends more on politics, religion, and secret agendas than finding true love. Prince Francis is intrigued by Mary but is hesitant to give up his freedom. Foes work to conspire against Mary’s marriage to Francis, and danger seems to always be lurking near the castle.

The Originals

A spinoff from The Vampire Diaries, this first-year series has been picked up for Season 2. The Originals follows the original vampire family, who have a strained relationship due to thousands of years of tragedy and disloyalty. Klaus Mikaelson, the original vampire-werewolf hybrid, has returned to New Orleans, the city his family helped build, and the place he and his siblings, Elijah and Rebekah, were exiled from a century ago by their father. Drawn back to New Orleans by a mysterious tip that a plot is brewing against him, Klaus is surprised that the city still feels like home to him despite the decades he’s been away. Elijah follows his brother and learns that werewolf Hayley, Klaus’s onetime flame, is carrying Klaus’s child.

The Vampire Diaries

Vampire fans can relax: The CW is giving The Vampire Diaries a sixth season. Which Salvatore brother will Elena fall for in the coming year? During season five, Elena and Damon focus on their relationship, only to find that they bring out the worst in each other. It doesn’t help that the couple, along with Damon’s brother, Stefan, and their other supernatural friends must deal with travelers who are causing major disruptions in Mystic Falls, as well as in the afterlife. Even worse? The travelers begin to force Stefan and Elena to have romantic dreams about each other, causing more tension in Elena and Damon’s already strained relationship.

Supernatural

The CW has awarded its veteran series with its 10th season on the channel. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have spent the last eight years battling mysterious forces. Over the years, with the help of the fallen angel Castiel (Misha Collins) and the king of Hell, Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard), the Winchesters have straddled the line between good and evil. Last season, the brothers worked to close the gates of Hell. With the help of the prophet Kevin Tran, Sam and Dean set forth to perform the trials required to close the gates. Meanwhile, the gates of Heaven also close, forcing the angels to return to Earth — another major problem for the Winchesters to deal with.

Arrow

The superhero show has been renewed for a third season. It’s based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, a costumed crime fighter. The series follows billionaire playboy Oliver Queen, who returns home to fight crime after being stranded on an island for five years. When Oliver return to Starling City, his mother, Moira; sister, Thea; and best friend, Tommy, welcome him home, but they can all tell that Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. Oliver seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance, while creating the persona of Arrow, a vigilante who works to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore peace to Starling City.
