Police said a suspect is in custody following a brief shelter-in-place in Charlton.
Police said a white male in the area of Harrington Road was being sought following a traffic accident. The man allegedly ditched his car and took off on foot. Police said he was wanted for leaving the scene of the accident.
Residents in the Harrington Road area were advised to stay in their homes and lock their doors while police pursued the suspect. One resident on Carpenter Hill Road said they saw the man run into their yard from the woods. He allegedly tried to get into their car, then banged on the front door to be let in.
“Here you’re trying to call friends, warn them about it and then he’s in front of my house,” said the resident, who asked to not be identified.
The family called 911 and within minutes, the man was arrested in front of their house.
