An SUV driven by a valet crashed into an indoor pool in a Cambridge condominium building early Friday morning.

Cambridge Police say the driver backed up the SUV and put it in drive and something went wrong causing the vehicle to crash into the pool.

The valet driver told police the floor mat got stuck on the gas pedal causing it to move forward. The driver told police he thinks he mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brakes when he tried to slow down.

The valet was able to get out of the SUV and police said he had minor injuries.

Crews have removed the SUV from the building. Thousands of gallons of water had to be drained from the pool as part of the cleanup effort.

Police say they have not cited the driver.
