BROCKTON, MASS. (WHDH) - A child was hit and killed by a car while he was riding his bicycle in Brockton Tuesday.

Police said the boy, believed to be around 13 years old, was struck while he rode his bicycle down Main Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter said police have the boy’s cellphone and have contacted family. Several relatives have visited the scene where the boy was hit.

Police said the driver of the SUV was a teenager and he stopped immediately after hitting the other boy. Carpenter said he was visibly shaken and cooperated with police. No charges have been filed at this point.

The crash is under investigation and it is unclear who is at fault.
