Opening statements began on Tuesday in the trial of Ernest Wallace, an associate of convicted killer and former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Wallace is accused of helping Hernandez kill Odin Lloyd in 2013.

Wallace is the second of three men to go on trial for the 2013 murder.

Lloyd was a semi-professional football who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiance.

Tuesday morning, attorneys gave their opening statements after the jury was seated.

Shaneah Jenkins, Lloyd’s girlfriend, testified and recounted how she learned of his death.

Wallace has pleaded not guilty.

Lloyd’s mother was in court on Tuesday.
