LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Caption AnnaSophia Robb is excited for fans to meet the Samantha Jones to her Carrie Bradshaw on The CW’s “The Carrie Diaries.”
“Lindsey Gort is the new Samantha and she is awesome,” AnnaSophia told Access Hollywood at the Young Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday.
“She’s such a wonderful addition to the cast and brings such lively energy,” AnnaSophia said. “And she looks so much like Kim Cattrall, it’s crazy. Sometimes I’ll be looking at her and go, ‘Wow! They did good job casting you and we’re having a lot of fun.”
Recently, Kim actually gave Lindsey her blessing, Tweeting the young actress a little advice on how to really dig into the role.
“So happy u’re playing Fearless Sam,” Kim Tweeted last month. “The key 2 her is her heart. She never judges those she loves. Have a blast! Kimx”
AnnaSophia told Access she was with Lindsey when the Tweet from Kim came through.
“We were in the car, we were riding to set together and she’s like, ‘Oh my gosh! Kim Tweeted me!’” AnnaSophia recounted.
While AnnaSophia is excited to have a new cast member on board, she was coy about how her character, Carrie, and Lindsey’s character, Samantha, actually meet on the show.
“I don’t know if I’m allowed to explain it yet,” she said. “But episode one you’ll meet Samantha!”
“The Carrie Diaries” returns to The CW on October 25 at 8/7c.
