RISING SUN, INDIANA (AP) — A day of cleanup in Southern Indiana after storms passed through the Cincinnati area Wednesday night.

A severe thunderstorm pushed through the tri-state Wednesday night, dropping heavy rain and baseball-sized hail across portions of Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana.

Tornado warnings were issued for numerous counties in Kentucky and Indiana, but the National Weather Service did not confirm any tornadic activity on the ground.

Damages were reported of strong winds and hail, such as shattered windows and windshields and toppled trees.

Some of the heaviest damage was reported in Indiana’s Ripley and Dearborn counties. Rising Sun was littered with toppled trees, one of which fell onto a home on Willow St. The homeowners were not hurt.

Rising Sun, Ohio County schools were on a 2 hour delay on Thursday morning due to damage and power outages.

A dugout at Rising Sun High School was knocked down by the storm.

Today, residents still don’t have cable TV or telephone service.
