WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) — A group looking for clues into the disappearance of Waterville toddler Ayla Reynolds is hoping to enlist tourists in their effort.
United for Ayla is distributing posters with pictures of the little girl and information about the case to businesses, campgrounds, parks and other places frequented by tourists asking them to keep an eye out for clues.
Group website administrator John Pomerleau tells the Morning Sentinel tourists often hike, camp and boat in remote locations, and if made aware of the case, might spot something important.
The effort is similar to a program that sought the help of hunters last fall.
Ayla was 20 months old when she was reported missing in December 2011. Police have said they think she is dead, but have not charged anyone.
