WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) — A Massachusetts State Police trooper was hurt after being struck by a driver who then took off from the scene.

The trooper was struck on the Mass Pike Eastbound in Grafton around 1 o’clock in the morning Wednesday.

The trooper was being treated at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. He was believed to have some bruising to his face.

Investigators had not given any description of the car, except to say that there was possible passenger side damage. The only damage to the patrol car was a broken mirror. The trooper was the one that called for help after the accident.

The trooper was taken to the hospital as a precaution. 7News was told he had some bruising and was able to walk on his own. His exact condition was unknown but he was expected to be okay. Other troopers remained on the scene reconstructing the accident.

More information was expected to be released by Mass State Police Wednesday morning.
