BOSTON (WHDH) - Tufts University reports that nine of its students have been diagnosed with mumps over the past three weeks.

Mumps, a salivary-gland disease that spreads through infected saliva, is a disease prevented by an MMR vaccine.

The Department of Public Health says it is working with the school to help prevent the illness from spreading.

Department officials say anyone who may have symptoms should go to the school’s health services.
