SEATTLE (WHDH) - A medical mystery stumped doctors in Seattle.

Eight children were being treated for a rare neurological illness.

The kids are all at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

The illness effects the nervous system, particularly the spinal cord. It often follows a virus.

Classic symptoms include suffer and pronounced weakness of a limb.

Doctors said AFM is not contagious, and so far there are no connections between the children.
