LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — In an American Veterans post in Louisville, Kentucky, a two-person band plays traditional music on fiddle and piano in a program that brings joy to small groups of veterans with traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Those lucky enough to attend say these barn dance style events are therapeutic, soothing their anxiety and depression.

The program is called Dancing Well, and has been gathering since 2013. Roosevelt Smith, a Gulf War veteran with PTSD, says it’s the best prescription he’s had, and with no side effects.
