FRAMINGHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - Friends learned quickly of the tragic shooting at the Orlando nightclub and were devastated, but quickly moved into action, setting up a page to help with Angel Colon’s medical bills.
Colon is recovering in an Orlando hospital after being shot several times and shared his harrowing story of survival in a news conference on Tuesday.
Colon is from Framingham and was rescued by a police officer.
His friend, Jordan de la Cruz, said it has been an emotional time.
He said his friend does not have health insurance and will be recovering not only physically but emotionally for a long time.
“The physical damage, he was shot three, five times, he was dragged, cuts, broken bones,” de la Cruz. “With that will also come mental and emotional trauma. When I spoke with him he was in high spirits.”
So far, friends have raised $6,000 for Colon.
