VALE, Ore. (WHDH) — An Oregon man accused of stealing a car was arrested after he got stuck in a badger hole.

Oregon State Police said they attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle on Thursday morning.

They said that’s when the driver took off and police followed. The chase was called off because of safety concerns.

The first suspect was arrested after being found walking on public land several hours later.

A couple of hours later, Police said they located the stolen vehicle in a ravine and the suspects’ dog, who ran into a large badger hole.

After police rescued the dog, they said they heard a man screaming from inside and found Gregory Morrow, 22, stuck about 8 feet underground.

Police began digging immediately and eventually pulled Morrow from the hole.

Morrow was treated at the hospital and released into police custody where he is charged with parole violation.

Charges related to stolen vehicle are pending.
