Young chefs join Michelle Obama for White House state dinner

WASHINGTON (NBC) - 56 young chefs representing each state, five territories, and the District of Columbia joined Michelle Obama at the White House for the state dinner.

The challenge, part of the First Lady’s Let’s Move initiative, invited kids and their parents to create original, healthy, affordable and delicious lunch recipes.

More than 1,200 entries were submitted.

A special video message from President Obama was also played at the event for the young chefs.

Michelle Obama reminded everyone that cooking and enjoying healthy food was the main reason she launched her Let’s Move initiative.
