ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont police department is warning about the dangers of a “blackout game,” in which people deliberately lose consciousness.

St. Johnsbury Police say students have been playing the game where one person takes several rapid deep breaths and then allows another person to apply pressure to the neck, causing the subject to lose consciousness.

Police say participants have been video recording the incidents.

The warning came Wednesday after a male student at the St. Johnsbury Academy passed out, falling to the floor, suffering broken teeth and a chin laceration.

The student was hospitalized for his injuries.
