BOSTON (WHDH) - Actor Mark Wahlberg says he regrets making a request for a pardon for a crime he committed as a teenager in Dorchester.

In an interview with The Wrap, the actor says, “I didn’t need that. I spent 28 years righting the wrong. I didn’t need a piece of paper to acknowledge it. I was kind of pushed into doing it. I certainly didn’t need to or want to re-live that stuff again.”

Wahlberg was convicted of assault and battery against a man when he was just 16 years old.

Wahlberg says one good thing that came of the pardon request was the opportunity to meet his victim and the man’s wife and daughter and apologize to them.
