I know it’s cliche but wow….some wild weather late yesterday afternoon & evening. I chased one of those rotating thunderstorms for a short time…no rotation but the storm was intense regardless…as some of you found out first hand. The next couple of days will offer a continued risk of isolated-scattered powerful thunderstorms before settling down late week.
The reason for the storm threat is due to heat & humidity across the region. Most towns will reach the low 90s this afternoon & combined with humidity leads to the threat of some scattered afternoon storms. I don’t think the storms will be as organized/widespread as they were on Monday as there isn’t a pocket of energy in the sky that can lift all this heat/humidity. It’s a classic summer day with heat, humidity & the risk of some afternoon storms.
Wednesday offers similar weather in terms of the heat & humidity but a cool front begins to approach late in the day. This front will pop showers & storms during the late afternoon & evening. Like today, Wednesday is not washed out so keep the outdoor plans with an eye to the sky (or to our 7news weather app—shameless plug, I know). This front does serve a good purpose as it will dislodge the humidity from New England during the day on Thursday. Pleasant weather is here for Friday & much of the weekend!
