The girlfriend of a man accused of killing a 19-year-old University of New Hampshire student has testified that she left the room after the woman was choked and when she returned, saw her boyfriend raping the victim and calling her derogatory names.

Twenty-year-old Kathryn McDonough resumed testifying Wednesday in the first-degree murder trial of Seth Mazzaglia. She said they played strip poker with Elizabeth “Lizzi” Marriott at his Dover apartment on Oct. 9, 2012.

McDonough said the 31-year-old Mazzaglia suggested to Marriott that she kiss McDonough. When Marriott said no, he said he wanted Marriott to watch McDonough and Mazzaglia have sex. Marriott again refused.

McDonough testified that Mazzaglia was unaccustomed to hearing “no” and strangled her with a rope as the women watched a movie.

Mazzaglia’s lawyers said that McDonough killed Marriott during rough sex.
