WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH)– Ryan Hehir was charged Thursday with operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs after police say his car slammed into a concrete pillar on Wednesday when he had an apparent medical episode.

When a police officer and a Good Samaritan went to check on him, they say he hit the gas again and ran over the police officer.

The Good Samaritan was able to get his foot on the brake and stop the driver. Both the officer and the Good Samaritan were treated for leg injuries, but are expected to be okay.
