Worcester Police are investigating after a man suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at a local hospital.

Police responded on Tuesday to a report for a 46-year-old man who had been shot.

The man told police he was walking home Sunday night from a Thai restaurant when he heard a “pop” sound and then felt a pain in his back.

The man said he continued walking home, ate his food, and went to sleep.

When he woke up on Monday, he said he was in pain and found it difficult to move.

The man said he slept most of the day on Monday and when he woke up on Tuesday he was still in pain and noticed a large amount of blood on his clothing and bed.

The man then drove himself to the hospital.

Police said the man did not initially realize he had been shot and was unsure of which direction it had come from.

Hospital staff confirmed the man suffered a gunshot wound to the left chest area. He is in serious but stable condition.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
