BOSTON (WHDH) - Retired slugger David Ortiz hasn’t been away from the game for long, but he’s already dropping hints that he might be considering a comeback.

When the Boston Red Sox announced a major trade for Chris Sale on Tuesday evening, David Ortiz took to Instagram to post about his former team’s move.

“My god,” Ortiz wrote with several emojis. “my boy sale to Btown? You guys got me thinking”

The post was liked more than 50,000 times and featured dozens of comments from fans begging the superstar slugger for one more year.

Ortiz announced his retirement prior to the 2016 season, then proceeded to hit .315 with 38 home runs and 127 RBIs.

Led by Ortiz, the Red Sox won the American League East but were swept by eventual AL champion Cleveland in the first round, and an emotional Ortiz took time to salute fans at Fenway Park following his final game at Fenway Park.
