Evan Fournier scored 24 points and Aaron Gordon had 19 points and 14 rebounds as the Orlando Magic snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 119-114 win over the Boston Celtics.
Rookie Mario Hezonja scored 17 points, Tobias Harris had 16 and Nikola Vucevic had 16 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists for the Magic.
Marcus Smart led Boston with 26 points, Isaiah Thomas added 23 points and Avery Bradley scored 22. The loss stopped a five-game win streak for Boston, which had beaten Orlando 113-94 two nights earlier.
The Magic trailed 95-90 when Harris converted a three-point play to start an 18-2 run that gave Orlando control for the first time. Fournier made two 3-pointers and Hezonja added another during the run that Gordon finished off with a fastbreak layup.
Orlando was up 113-102 with a minute left when it missed four free throws and opened the door for Boston to make one last run.
Smart hit a 3-pointer and was fouled by Victor Oladipo with 14.6 seconds to play. Smart made the free throw to finish off the four-point play and cut the deficit to 117-114. Vucevic stopped the rally with two free throws and blocked Kelly Olynyk’s 3-point attempt with 6 seconds to play to preserve the win.
The Celtics shot 7 of 12 from 3-pointer range in the first period, but went only 9 of 34 from behind the arc the rest of the game.
Thomas’ fourth 3-pointer of the game gave Boston a 70-56 lead with 7:59 left in the third quarter. Orlando rallied from 14 points down midway through the third quarter and tied it at 81 going into the final period.
