BOSTON (WHDH) - An Air Force staff sergeant got a surprise after throwing out the first pitch at Saturday’s Red Sox game when her Army veteran boyfriend proposed to her.

Staff Sgt. Amber Nonnamaker was honored at the game and got to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Red Sox played the Toronto Blue Jays. Steve Bohn then surprised her in the bottom of the fourth inning when he got down on knee and asked her to marry him.

Nonnamaker said yes.

“Honestly, my mind is still blown,” said Nonnamaker. “I’m trying to realize it was all reality and the passion of all the fans there, they really did help make it really special.”

The couple attended the game with more than 200 other veterans and their families as part of Veterans Appreciation Night. The event was sponsored by U.S. Pavement Services.
